Types or Methods of Building Links

Posted by seodesig on March 25th, 2008

Link Building is a very important part in search engine optimization and search engine marketing, the more number of link coming to your site from related sites, more you get ranking on any search engine. In theory of SEO there are so many definitions of link building and types.

Here i am going to explain some of link building types that i have done.

Reciprocal links - Getting a link from other site and providing a link to that site from same site.

One-way links - Definitely the best link ever, Google sees one-way links as very valuable and there is no way they will ever have negative effects on your serps as reciprocal links can.

Link Baiting - The idea or implementation of a tool, service or content in such a way that it attracts links without the asking. By far the very best link building idea, it sure beats buying links and it is all natural… Hey even Matt Cutts is for it so it must be good

Three way link exchanging - In this type there are basically three sites involves - like site A, B, C. Three way link exchange means you are getting a link without giving a back link, this is the best approach today for any site to promote on any search engine.

Paid links - This is for webmasters who have fat wallets, they can just dish out money and get high PR, high authority links without doing any actual work or can they?

Spamming - This is probably the most common and frustrating link building method… the use of forms, forums, blogs and other public community sites to spam a link hoping that the site either automatically accepts all submissions or has a poor moderating team who will fail to catch and moderate the spam.

Link requesting - This method has gotten alot of flak and even though it has a very small success rate it is still IMO a very good method to use which I shall explain later on in this article.

What is Search Engine Optimization

Posted by seodesig on February 29th, 2008

Search Engine Optimization is the process of website’s content and source code is written in such manner so that search engines can find, index, and rank pages highly in the SERPs (Search Engine Result Pages). SEO involves the pages’ structured code, optimized metas, title, content, outbound links, properly defined tags (alt and H tags are most important), and relevant text links. While working on SEO, it is critical to remember that the site is for users and not for search engines. Optimization should NOT make the site unusual or undesirable to users.

Benefits of Link Popularity
To measure a page’s popularity, Google ranks it on a scale from 1 to 10 and calls that number a “page rank” (PR). Each page is ranked individually and is tied to the rank of its parent page. Therefore, if the PR of a homepage is high, we expect to see a high PR spread across the entire site. Higher PRs reflect high-quality link popularity, which is an important but completely separate part of SEO. When properly done, link popularity helps in boosting your site’s ranks in SERPs. How?

  1. Your site uses target keywords in the anchor text
  2. There are more incoming links to your site
  3. You have more link placements on pages with related keywords
  4. Your Pages are crawled (searched and indexed) more frequently
  5. Your site is endorsed by other related sites.

Link popularity plays a major role in any successful SEO strategy.

Ethical SEO Techniques
Performing SEO ethically requires adhering to the guidelines established by major search engines to avoid using spamming to get high rankings.. Unethical SEO practices include cloaking, doorway pages, hidden text, hidden links, too many keywords, distorting text by filling it with keywords, and having mirror sites, among others.
